Playing responsibly on Hatrick
Predictions should stay fun. A practical guide to the responsible gaming tools on Hatrick — stake limits, self-exclusion, the 18+ gate and how to use them.
Fun first, always
Hatrick's Live Mode lets you predict and bet on real matches. That is only worth doing if it stays fun — which means staying in control. Responsible gaming is not an afterthought bolted onto the platform; the tools are built in, and this post explains what they are and how to use them.
If predictions ever stop feeling like entertainment and start feeling like pressure, that is the signal to use them.
You must be 18 or over
Access to betting surfaces is gated behind an age check. When you first arrive, a confirmation step asks you to verify that you are 18 or older. This is not dismissible by clicking around it — only a positive confirmation lets you through, and it is remembered so you are not asked repeatedly.
If you indicate you are under 18, the platform points you to help resources rather than opening the betting surfaces. This is a hard line, not a suggestion.
Stake limits keep you in control
The most effective habit in responsible play is deciding your limit before you start, not in the heat of a match. Hatrick's stake limits let you set a ceiling on how much you put at stake, and the platform enforces it for you.
Setting a limit ahead of time removes the in-the-moment decision entirely. You are not relying on willpower during a tense final ten minutes — the limit is already doing the work.
You will find stake limits in Settings, reachable from the avatar menu.
Self-exclusion when you need a break
Sometimes the right move is to step away completely for a while. Self-exclusion does exactly that: it blocks the betting surfaces until a date you choose. Once set, the block is enforced across the platform — the bet slip and the underlying place-bet logic both respect it, so there is no clicking your way around it mid-session.
Self-exclusion lives alongside stake limits in Settings. Choosing to exclude yourself is a strong, healthy decision, not a failure — the tool exists precisely so that stepping back is easy.
Fantasy Mode is play-money
It is worth being clear about the split between the two modes. Fantasy Mode — packs, squads, duels and the market — runs on play-money. Building your XI and climbing the duel ladder does not put real value at stake. The responsible gaming tools above apply to Live Mode's real betting surfaces.
If you enjoy the competition but want to keep real stakes out of it entirely, Fantasy Mode is a complete experience on its own.
A short checklist
- Decide your limit before you play, and set it in Settings so the platform holds the line for you.
- Treat any stake as spent. Never stake money you would mind losing.
- Take breaks. If a session stops being fun, self-exclude for a while — the tool is one click away.
- Keep it in Fantasy if you want the competition without real stakes.
- Reach out to a support service if predictions start to feel like a problem. Stepping back is always the strongest move.
Hatrick is built to make the World Cup more fun to follow. These tools exist to keep it that way.
